Ashleigh Collette

University of Queensland

My name is Ashleigh Collette and I am currently studying a Bachelor of Mining and Geotechnical Engineering (Honours) and a Bachelor of Geological Sciences at the University of Queensland.

I have been an active member within the mining and metallurgy community at UQ. I have held numerous executive positions within the Mining and Metallurgy Association (MAMA) and also as a representative on the AusIMM Southern Queensland Student Chapter Committee. I have been heavily involved in organising Mining Games at both local and national levels and have also had the opportunity to represent UQ in International Mining Games tours to Cornwall, UK and Kentucky, USA.

I have been fortunate enough to undertake multiple vacation placements throughout my time at university in both open cut and underground coal and also open cut iron ore. I spent my most recent summer at Coronado’s Curragh Mine in Blackwater, CQ where I held a position in their Dragline Execution Engineering team. I now work as an Undergraduate Engineer in Curragh’s mid-term planning team in their Brisbane office.

Despite the challenges associated with the current climate I am grateful for the opportunity to continue to bring New Leaders to students, graduates and young professionals this year.
