Invitation from the 2019 National Mining Games Organising Committee Chair

As the President of AusIMM’s UWA Student Chapter and on behalf of AusIMM and the University of WA, I would like to formally invite you to the National Mining Games for 2019.

The 2019 National Mining Games, to be held in Perth following the AusIMM New Leaders’ Conference poses to be a great event in the 2019 calendar. With more interest than ever before, the Games will include women, mixed and men’s teams competing in different events for prizes to be awarded at the Ball on the evening of the final day.

We look forward to seeing as many people as possible to join in this special week for something that will be exciting and memorable.

The conclusion of the New Leaders’ Conference marks the beginning of the National Mining Games, an event for universities around Australia to compete for the title of National Mining Games Champions.

This years’ event, hosted by the University of Western Australia from 3-4 October, will see students from across Australia compete in a range of events from airleg drilling and rail set to gold panning and rock identification.

The Western Australia School of Mines will be defending their National Mining Games Champions 2018 title in both the men’s and mixed categories.

Our Engineering students traded modern technology for panning bowls and pickaxes in the National Mining Games held on campus last week. ⛏👷‍♀👷‍♂
